P0097 – Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Low

Description

The P0097 trouble code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a low voltage signal from the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor 2 circuit. This usually means the sensor signal is below the expected range due to a short to ground, wiring fault, or a failed sensor.

Common Causes

Faulty IAT Sensor 2, short to ground, damaged wiring, corroded or loose connector, poor electrical connection, or a faulty ECM (rare).

Symptoms

Check Engine Light ON, poor fuel economy, rough idle, reduced engine performance, hard starting, and incorrect intake air temperature readings.
