P0105 – Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Circuit Malfunction
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0105 indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM) has detected a malfunction in the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor circuit. The MAP sensor measures the pressure inside the intake manifold, allowing the ECM to calculate engine load and adjust fuel injection and ignition timing.
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light is illuminated.
- Rough idle.
- Poor engine performance.
- Engine hesitation during acceleration.
- Hard starting.
- Reduced fuel economy.
- Engine may stall in severe cases.
Possible Causes
- Faulty MAP sensor.
- Damaged or disconnected vacuum hose (if equipped).
- Open or short circuit in the wiring.
- Loose or corroded electrical connector.
- Poor sensor ground.
- 5V reference circuit fault.

Diagnostic Procedure

- Verify the 5V reference, ground, and signal circuits.
- Compare MAP sensor readings with engine operating conditions.
- Repair wiring or vacuum leaks before replacing the sensor.
- Replace the MAP sensor only after confirming it has failed.
Live Data Diagnosis (Autel Scanner)
Using an Autel scan tool:
- Go to ECM → Live Data.
- Select the MAP parameter (kPa or psi).
- With the ignition ON and engine OFF, the MAP value should be close to atmospheric pressure (typically around 95–101 kPa, depending on altitude).
- At idle, the MAP value typically drops to approximately 25–40 kPa on naturally aspirated gasoline engines.
- If the reading is fixed, erratic, or does not respond to throttle changes, inspect the sensor, vacuum supply, and wiring.

Vacuum leaks can significantly affect MAP sensor readings and trigger DTC P0105.

Important Note
