P0099 – Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Intermittent

Description

The P0099 trouble code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected an intermittent signal problem in the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor 2 circuit. The sensor signal is changing unexpectedly or becoming temporarily unavailable during operation.

Common Causes

Faulty IAT Sensor 2, loose electrical connector, damaged wiring harness, broken wire inside insulation, corrosion at terminals, poor ground connection, or a faulty ECM (rare).

Symptoms

Check Engine Light ON, intermittent loss of engine performance, rough idle, hesitation during acceleration, poor fuel economy, and unstable intake air temperature readings.
