P0093 – Fuel System Large Leak Detected

P0093 – Fuel System Large Leak Detected

Description

The P0093 trouble code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a large fuel pressure loss or an abnormal drop in fuel pressure. This fault is commonly related to fuel delivery problems, especially in high-pressure fuel systems.

Common Causes

Faulty fuel injector, fuel pressure regulator problem, weak fuel pump, fuel rail pressure sensor fault, damaged fuel lines, or restricted fuel filter.

Symptoms

Check Engine Light ON, loss of engine power, hard starting, engine hesitation, stalling, and poor fuel economy.

Live Data Check

Check Fuel Rail Pressure Desired versus Actual, monitor pressure during acceleration, test injector leakage, and verify fuel pressure regulator operation.

Estimated Repair Cost

Typical repair cost ranges from $100 - $1500 depending on the failed component.

Severity

High. A large fuel pressure loss can cause engine power loss, stalling, and starting problems.

Recommended Fix

Inspect the fuel system for leaks, test fuel pressure, check injectors and regulator, repair wiring faults, replace defective parts, clear the code, and confirm the repair.
