LTFT (Long Term Fuel Trim) is an important OBD2 Live Data parameter that shows the long-term fuel adjustments learned and stored by the ECU to maintain the correct air-fuel mixture.

What Does LTFT Mean?

The ECU continuously monitors oxygen sensor feedback and adjusts fuel delivery. When the ECU notices a repeated fuel correction pattern, it stores this adjustment as Long Term Fuel Trim.

Unlike STFT, which changes quickly, LTFT represents learned corrections over time.

How Does LTFT Work?

If the engine frequently runs lean, the ECU increases fuel delivery and LTFT becomes positive. If the engine frequently runs rich, the ECU reduces fuel delivery and LTFT becomes negative.
