Bank 1 and Bank 2 are important terms in OBD2 diagnostics used to identify the side of the engine where sensors and fuel control systems are located, especially in V-type engines.
In automotive diagnostics, a Bank refers to a group of engine cylinders. The ECU uses Bank identification to monitor oxygen sensors, fuel trims, and emissions systems on different sides of the engine.
Bank 1 is the side of the engine that contains cylinder number 1. The location of Bank 1 depends on the engine design and cylinder numbering system.
Bank 2 is the opposite side of the engine from Bank 1. It is found mainly on engines with two cylinder banks, such as V6, V8, and V10 engines.

If Bank 1 has high positive fuel trim while Bank 2 is normal, the problem may be limited to one side
of the engine, such as an intake leak, injector problem, or sensor issue affecting that bank.
High LTFT on Both Banks:
A problem affecting the entire engine, such as low fuel pressure, vacuum leak, or incorrect airflow
measurement, may be more likely.
