The C0013 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates a malfunction in the Left Rear ABS Outlet Valve Control Circuit. This code is stored when the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) control module detects an electrical problem affecting the left rear outlet solenoid valve or its control circuit. A properly operating ABS system is essential for maintaining braking performance and vehicle stability during emergency stops.
Code C0013 means the ABS control module has detected an abnormal electrical condition, such as excessive resistance, an open circuit, or a short circuit in the left rear ABS outlet valve control circuit. The outlet valve is part of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) and controls brake fluid pressure whenever the ABS system is activated.
Code C0013 is considered a serious safety-related fault. Although the standard hydraulic braking system usually continues to function, the ABS, traction control, and stability control systems may be disabled. This increases the risk of wheel lock-up during emergency braking and reduces steering control, particularly on wet, icy, or gravel-covered roads. The fault should be repaired as soon as possible.
The vehicle can often still be driven if the brake pedal feels normal and no additional braking problems are present. However, driving with this code is not recommended because the loss of ABS functionality may increase stopping distance and reduce vehicle control during sudden braking situations.
