Voltage Drop Test is an electrical diagnostic method used to measure unwanted resistance in a vehicle circuit while the circuit is operating. It helps technicians find wiring, connector, and ground problems that may not be detected by a normal continuity test.
Every electrical circuit has a small amount of resistance. When resistance becomes too high due to corrosion, damaged wires, or poor connections, part of the supplied voltage is lost before reaching the component.
This lost voltage is called Voltage Drop.
Engine Starting Problem:
If the starter motor receives insufficient voltage, a voltage drop test can identify excessive
resistance in the battery cables or ground connections.
Sensor Problem:
A poor sensor ground may create incorrect Live Data readings even when the sensor itself is good.
