The Seat Position Sensor (SPS) is an important component of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). It detects the position of the driver's or front passenger's seat and sends this information to the Airbag Control Module (ACM/RCM/SDM/ORC). The control module uses this data to optimize airbag deployment and improve occupant protection during a collision.
The Seat Position Sensor is usually mounted on the driver's seat track or passenger seat track. Depending on the vehicle design, it may be attached to the seat rail or integrated into the seat adjustment mechanism.
