P0065 – Air Assisted Injector Control Range/Performance

The P0065 diagnostic trouble code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a performance problem in the Air Assisted Injector Control system. This system uses pressurized air to improve fuel atomization on certain vehicles, helping enhance combustion efficiency and reduce emissions.

If the ECM determines that the system is not operating within the expected range, it stores the P0065 code and illuminates the Check Engine Light.

Common Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light ON
  • Rough idle
  • Reduced engine performance
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Increased exhaust emissions

Common Causes

  • Faulty air-assisted injector control solenoid
  • Vacuum or air supply leaks
  • Damaged wiring or connector
  • Blocked air passages
  • Rarely, a faulty ECM

Basic Diagnosis

Inspect the air-assisted injector control valve and its wiring, check the air or vacuum supply for leaks or restrictions, verify electrical power and ground, and use a scan tool to monitor system operation. Repair or replace faulty components as required.

Diagnostic Note: The Air Assisted Injector system is not equipped on all vehicles. System design, component location, and diagnostic procedures vary by manufacturer. Always consult the factory service manual and wiring diagram for the specific vehicle.
